Instagram bio link: what to include when you sell a product

“Link in bio.” You write it under every post. But what do your followers find when they tap it? Your home page? A list of ten links? They look around, hesitate, and leave. To sell your ebook, course, or services, show them what they came for.

The rule: put what you sell first

Someone tapping your link just saw your post. They want to find the thing you mentioned, right away. Every extra click and every page to search costs you buyers. Put your offer where people can see it without scrolling.

Option 1: link straight to your sales page

This is the easiest option when you sell one product. Your followers land exactly where they can buy. The trouble starts the day you add a second product or run a limited-time offer: you change the link, and your older posts send people to the wrong place.

Option 2: the links on your profile

Instagram lets you add multiple links to your profile. That's handy, but your followers see a list of titles with no product images or prices. They have to figure out which link they need.

Option 3: a link page

A stack of buttons for your shop, YouTube channel, newsletter, podcast… Everything is there, but nothing stands out. Your main product gets the same attention as your latest episode.

Option 4: a page that shows what you sell

A page in your name where every product has its own photo, name, price, and buy link. Your followers find what they came for, compare, and buy. That's the difference between a list of links and a storefront.

What to put in your Instagram bio link, based on what you sell

  • An ebook or guide: the cover, a sentence about the problem it solves, the price, and a button to buy it.
  • A course: what students will get out of it, the next session date if there is one, and the signup link.
  • Templates: a preview, the price, and a link to each template.
  • A service or coaching: what you do, who you help, and a contact form instead of just an email address.

The 4 most common mistakes

  1. Sending followers to your website's home page.
  2. Giving ten links equal weight.
  3. Keeping a link to an offer that's ended.
  4. Never checking how many clicks your link gets.

What about TikTok?

You can add a website link to your TikTok profile once you have 1,000 followers or a registered business account. Use the same page so followers find your offers on both platforms.

What should I write in my bio to get clicks?
